Zucrow Labs 2023 Annual Report

This publication of the Zucrow Laboratories 2023 Annual Report celebrated the opening of the new Hypersonics and Applied Research Facility (HARF) and reported on the rapid progress of the new ZL9 High-Speed Propulsion Laboratory. The cover photograph taken by Sr. Reseach Scientist Venkat Athanathan shows a rotating detonation engine operated in Prof. Terrence Meyer’s lab. This fully optically accessible test rig allows researchers to look inside the RDE from the inlet plenum and throughout the combustion chamber using optical and laser-based diagnostics to characterize the complex dynamics with millions of data points a second.
